Description:

DSCNE, based in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, provides services to families in Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath & surrounding areas. DSCNE is run by a voluntary board of directors&parents of children with Down Syndrome.

Our core ethos embraces Positivity- we strive to create a bright future where children and adults with Down Syndrome are given support to reach their full potential and live independent and fulfilling lives.

DSCNE currently provide an Occupational Therapy service, Early Intervention groups for those aged 2-6 years, Music Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Handwriting without Tears classes, Drama and social groups and also Adaptive Dance for both children with DS and their siblings.

DSCNE provides a range of activities & information seminars on a regular basis for parents, grandparents, extended family members, as well as education professionals. These include counselling, parent and baby musical sensory class, baby massage, financial wellbeing workshops, Lámh Communication Training & many more parenting information sessions, workshops, coffee mornings and other sibling activities and social occasions.

DSCNE is run by a voluntary board of directors & parents of children with Down Syndrome and receives no state funding for the “day to day” operations of the charity. All our therapies, services and activities are offered to family either for free, or heavily subsidised so we are appreciative of each donation, large or small. Without the support of our benefactors to date, we would not be where we are now - looking forward to continue making a difference in 2021 and beyond.
